If you enjoy nature, escaping the stress of city living, or viewing wildlife at the North Pond Nature Sanctuary in Lincoln Park, then you understand why it is considered an important urban oasis. With its profusion of wildflowers, trees and calming still water, North Pond provides this area of Lincoln Park with its greatest natural asset. It provides a home for turtles, frogs, rabbits, opossums, squirrels, herons, and over 180 species of resident and migratory birds.
Yet we often take it for granted. We assume it will always be here -- that “somebody” will take care of it.

OUR MISSION

Founded in 1995, the North Pond Conservation Council is a non-profit organization that works to protect, promote and enhance the North Pond Nature Sanctuary as a high-quality urban wildlife and natural area to benefit its visitors, neighbors, wildlife, and the environment.

As a council of the Lincoln Park Conservancy, our goal is to bring North Pond’s natural landscape to its full potential and then preserve it for future generations. The Lincoln Park Conservancy, established in 1984, has a long history of successful planning, fundraising, and government relations that benefit the park. Their projects include the restoration and management of the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool, the award winning Lincoln Garden, and renovation of the Bates Fountain. They will soon begin restoration of the Lincoln Park Conservatory.

YOUR SUPPORT
MAKES A DIFFERENCE

The North Pond Conservation Council picks up where the Chicago Park District leaves off, taking on projects that are important to the pond, but do not fit into the city budget. We fund landscaping improvements, ecological projects, educational programs, community outreach and volunteer stewardship opportunities for nature lovers of all ages. These projects are possible because of your support. We invite you to join us in our mission of stewardship of this beautiful, natural resource we call the North Pond Nature Sanctuary. Please return the attached application along with your contribution.
