  • Dogs and bicycle-riding are not allowed on the shoreline nature trails.
  • Keep dogs leashed and out of the water.
  • Protect the habitats by staying on the paths.
  • No fishing or boating allowed.
  • Do not pick flowers or remove natural elements.
  • No swimming allowed. Keep off ice in winter.
  • Do not feed the wildlife.
Thank You.

FEEDING ALERT

Why we ask you not to feed the wildlife

Feeding the birds at the pond is a fun way to interact with them, but in the long run it is harmful. Human food is not meant for their digestive systems, and leftovers attract rodents.

When people feed ducks and geese their numbers increase and the life of a pond changes. Huge flocks of these birds pollute the water and litter the lawn with their droppings. When birds are crowded, diseases spread more quickly. Feeding can also disrupt natural migratory behavior.

Birds are better off eating a natural diet of plants, seeds and insects.

NO FISHING

North Pond is not stocked for fishing. Nearby fishing spots include the Lakefront, Diversey Harbor, and the Rowing Lagoon (just west of outer Lake Shore Drive) between Fullerton and the South Field baseball diamonds in Lincoln Park.
